Setting Up Outlook Mobile on Android
This guide walks you through setting up a new email account in the Outlook app on your Android device.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Launch Outlook:
– Open the Outlook app on your mobile phone.
- Access Add Account:
– If this is your first account, proceed to step 3. If you have other accounts, follow these steps:
– Tap on your profile icon to access the menu.
– Select the ‘Settings’ icon (cog), then choose ‘Add an account’.
- Add Account:
– Enter your email address and select ‘Continue’.
– If prompted, select ’Set Up Account Manually’. If not, skip to step 5.
- Configure Account Type:
– Note: If the setup defaults to setting up an ‘exchange’ mailbox, tap the small question mark at the top and switch to ‘Connect IMAP’.
– Select ‘IMAP’ under the Advanced settings.
- Enter Account Details:
– Fill in the following details:
– Email address: Your full email address (in lowercase).
– Display name: Your full name (e.g., John Smith).
– Description: Provide a label for the account (e.g., Work).
- IMAP Settings – Incoming Email Server:
– IMAP Host Name & Port: Starts with “mail.” followed by your domain name (e.g., mail.example.com), Port number is 993.
– Security Type: Choose SSL/TLS.
– IMAP Username: Your full email address.
– IMAP Password: Your mailbox password.
- SMTP Settings – Outgoing Email Server:
– SMTP Host Name & Port: Starts with “smtp.” followed by your domain name (e.g., smtp.example.com), Port number is 465.
– Security Type: Choose SSL/TLS.
– SMTP Username: Same as IMAP (your full email address).
– SMTP Password: Same as IMAP (your mailbox password).
- Login and Confirmation:
– Select the tick mark at the top right to proceed with login.
– The next screen will confirm the successful addition of your email account.
- Additional Accounts:
– To add another email account, select ‘Add’. If not, choose ‘Maybe later’.
